About Louise Mercer
As owner of the Tender Thicket, Louise designs arrangements and bouquets for weddings in the Three Village area and destination weddings. Louise’s love for gardening is reflected in the natural and flowing style of her floral designs. Her design style has been recognized and featured in Better Homes and Garden Magazine September 200l issue, and has also worked as a stylist for garden photos. Her work has also been prominent in calendars published by Workman Press and Sunset Books as well as Horticulture Magazine, In Bloom, and Sunset Books,” Flower Arranging from Your Garden.” The Mercer gardens have also appeared in Better Homes and Garden Complete Guide to Flower Gardening, and The Complete Guide to Gardening.
To add to her achievements, Louise has for the past twelve years designed the display of 375 auction items for the Long Island Museum’s Holiday Celebration Auction. In addition to the display, Louise designed a ten foot Christmas tree in an ‘Americana’ theme. This tree is on display during the Holiday Celebration display every November. In November 2004, Louise was recognized for her volunteer work for the Museum and the Mercer family was honored at the Holiday Celebration Gala. For the past fifteen years, she has decorated a home for the Three Village Historical Society Candlelight Tour. In Newsday, At Home Section, November 2006 there was an article about the 2004 Tour where Louise’s design efforts were recognized in an article that started with the headline, “She could make a shoebox look good!”
This recognition combined with seventeen years of flower arranging experience brings a level of design unique in her field.
